Newsletter Spring to Summer

The Sun has been shining for a few weeks now, but what a few weeks they have been. The Corona Virus and subsequent lockdown are proving to be challenging times for all small businesses.

But here at the Threshing Barn, we are still smiling and rather than dwell on the all bad things happening we have decided to use the time wisely!

Firstly we had a big sort out at TB HQ….and we found a few bargains so we have been selling some of our older stock and our more plentiful items; keep an eye out on our Facebook page for these amazing offers.

Shopping Online now available

We have also done a full stocktake of our spinning and weaving supplies and we have launched our new E-Commerce website…..yes….yes….yes… you can now buy direct from our website (not all items as yet, have a little patience!). So if you don’t fancy a chat full of advice and laughter you have a choice of placing your order on the website.

Customers will still need to phone to order some items e.g Floor Looms, Yarns, Fibres etc. and for those who do want a chat or some advice you are still free to give us a ring anytime. We always enjoy talking to you all and answering any of your questions, making sure you place the right order for your needs.

Don’t forget to like us on Facebook and whilst there, don’t forget to scroll back into March’s posts…and have a giggle at some of the videos we made when the stocktake got too much!! We had such fun creating videos to give you all a laugh, and we intend to make more when we are reunited after lockdown.

2020 – the year of the Alternative Shows

All our shows until August have been cancelled and we shall miss meeting you all, but we are getting involved in a couple of Virtual Wool Shows.

One of the exciting new projects we are involved in is THE ONLINE WOOL SHOW from the producers of Spring Into Wool and Southern Wool Show. We will have a virtual stall showcasing a range of our products and some videos. This event will be ongoing and be launched on the 18th of April, theonlinewoolshow.com make sure you come and say a virtual hello.

We are also taking part in #virtualwonderwool on 25th and 26th April. You will need to join their Facebook group to participate. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1865297380443118/

The Threshing barn will have challenging times ahead as many of our suppliers have closed their factories or distribution departments, but we will do our very best to get you sorted. I am still coming to work every day and getting your orders out, but after Easter, our local post office will only be opening 4 days a week. We will continue to post out your goodies, but please be patient as there are delays on most Royal Mail and Parcelforce services, which is out of our control. To limit the spread of Corona we use a Drop and Go account and have no contact with staff.

More Wildlife

My daily 9-mile drive to work is a single-track road over the moors, I am enjoying seeing more wildlife with so little traffic around. I have had a big stag jump in front of the van, stoats, barn owls, curlews, lapwings, plovers and even a red kite, and if you fancy seeing photos from my daily drive don’t forget to like us on Facebook.

I would like to give a huge thank you to Sara who many of you know from the shows (The Tall One). I could not have done the stocktake and imputing stock levels onto the website without her. We have also had such fun creating videos to give you all a laugh, visit our Facebook page to see them. Also, my thanks go to the best website designer Pete Hawkins who has the patience of a saint to cope with me. Which other designers would be on Zoom and remote controlling my Apple Mac at 9 pm trying to resolve problems whilst I sat drinking damson gin to soothe my nerves? So, if you need a new website, I highly recommend petehawkins.ltd.uk.

So all that remains for me to say is please stay safe and wish you all well.
