Winter to Summer Workshops and Events

You’ve been asking what we\’re doing this year – so we thought we’d tell you

Saturday 5th March……Gaywool Dye Day……With 3 primary colours we will explore all the variations we can achieve by dipping, submerging, painting, resist dyeing etc. To create 1 colour, tweeds, tonal variations, self repeating etc. With wool tops, raw fleece, silk and yarns.

Friday 18th Saturday 19th March……Edinburgh Yarn Festival event, The Corn Exchange

Wednesday 23rd March……Creative Drum Carding……Make a selection of batts ideal for spinning and feltmaking to create stripes, gradients, tweeds and art batts. Using 3 primaries create wonderful secondary variations. Combine colours with white wool to get tonal variations, sandwich layers of silk, Angelina fibres, scraps of yarn etc.

Tuesday 5th April……Woven Pre Felts……An exciting day to create woollen, woven felted cushion panels from merino pre felts that you will have hand dyed. Embellish with embroidery and buttons.

Wednesday 13th April……Appleby Embroidery Guild workshop

Saturday 16th Sunday 17th April……Knit and Stitch event Rheged, Penrith

Wednesday 20th April……Silk Collage workshop, Farfield Mill, Sedbergh

Saturday 23rd Sunday 24th April……Wonderwool Wales event, Builth Wells

Wednesday 27th April……The Face of Pansies……A floral creative day drawing inspiration from these flowers making a felt embroided panel, using pressed pansies incorporate them into silk paper sheets and bowls.

Saturday 30th April……Beginners Rigid Heddle Loom Day. All materials and use of a loom are provided.

Wednesday 4th May……Felt Jewellery Treasures……The perfect day to make a collection of felt beads for necklaces and bracelets, embellish with embroidery and seed beads. Make woven silk cords on a lucet.

Saturday 7th May……Walsall Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers Open Day

Wednesday 11th May……Fell and Dales Vessels and Pictures……Drawing inspiration from the stunning scenery around the mill make a collection of glued rare breed woollen atmospheric landscapes.

Saturday 21st May……Chelford Embroidery Guild event

Thursday 26th May……Into the Woods……Create 3D sculpted panels from pre felts that you have dyed then stitched, pleated, gathered and manipulated etc. Make silk leaves from real evergreen fresh leaves.

Thursday 30th June……Indian Inspired Weavings …..We will be exploring creating textured 3D affects on a rigid heddle loom or a peg loom from loops, tassels, giordes knots etc. Using bright coloured sari silk ribbons, plied yarns, wensleydale curls etc. decorated with beads, buttons and jewels.
