Autumn-Winter Newsletter

Winter closure – I shall be closing the workshop from 21st November until the 6th December to be on grannie duties. So please get your orders in for Christmas well before I close. Then from the 6th I will try to catch up with calls and orders but please be patient. I would ask that you send emails which I will respond to rather than leaving phone messages. If you leave a phone message may I ask you leave your phone number slowly as often folk leave their mobile number in a quick rhythm.

Swaledale – This has been my 1st summer in Reeth and I have loved my commute to work over the moors. The drive is different everyday with the wildlife, colours of the heather and the big dramatic skies. It is truly an uplifting, inspirational and beautiful landscape.

Fleece shop – With 4 friends we have taken on a craft shop on the village green in Reeth. We have all been amazed at the response and sales at the shop. Reeth is a real tourist hub for Swaledale and visitors have been thrilled to find affordable local crafts to take home. We have set up as a not for profit community project. We take members who have an allocated space and run the shop. So I have been delighted at my welcome to Reeth.

Ashford new products – We are excited at the new products arriving soon. There will be their smallest, lightest electronic spinner which fits into a padded carry bag. It comes with an on/off foot switch, 3 bobbins, a tensioned lazy kate and weighs only 2kilos. After the success of the Samplet loom they have now introduced a new 16” 40cm. size and stand. A new warp cone stand will fit 6 cones which makes tangle and snag free warping. New warp thread weights are ideal for holding floating selvedge’s, supplementary or broken warp threads under tension. A new loom which will be for special order only, it is the 32” 80cm. 16 shaft table loom. Wooden weaving needles and the tapestry beater have sold very well this summer.

Craft kits – Our new landscape needle felting kits have been very popular. Included are photos of samples I have made of views in Swaledale and the  Lake District but you could use your own photos. The kits contain local wool that is hand washed, dyed and carded in our workshop. There will be 3 new designs in our circular weaving kits the dales, the lakes and a seascape. New gift boxes are full of hand dyed yarns. A Flower Power Embroidery kit contains pre felts, threads, beads and buttons. The wooden mini bobbin necklace kit with yarns has been very popular available in a large range of colours. New fibres for spinners to try are rose, pearl, mint and seacell.

Events for 2018 – I am busy booking the events for next year. So look forward to meeting you all on my travels. If you wish to visit the workshop please always phone to check I’m there.

Thank you all for your custom this year and I wish you all a lovely Christmas.
