We are running a varied selection of courses this year to get your creative juices flowing! Don’t be worried about having no experience all courses (except Art Yarn spinning) are suitable for both complete beginners and those with experience. All course prices include materials, but feel free to bring any bits and pieces you may want to incorporate.

Courses run 10.00 – 4.30, include refreshments throughout the day. Lunch not provided.  They are £75 per person.

Please use click and collect at checkout (otherwise you will have to pay postage!)  – you can pay via card by choosing the World Pay option – if you choose BACs please remember you will need to transfer the money from your bank account. If you would rather pay over the phone please just give me a ring!

If you are doing a spinning workshop please let us know in the comments if you will be bringing a wheel and what kind it is. 

Weds 11th Jan – Spinning for Beginners – never spun? spun a bit but not too well? got a wheel in the attic that hasn’t been for a spin in years? Spend a day with Janet and Sara as they take you through sheep breeds, carding, spinning and plying – you will leave with a small hank of your own hand spun yarn! We will take a look at different types of wheels including electric and we will have some wheels for those without.

Sat 21st Jan – Spinning for Beginners – never spun? spun a bit but not too well? got a wheel in the attic that hasn’t been for a spin in years? Spend a day with Janet and Sara as they take you through sheep breeds, carding, spinning and plying – you will leave with a small hank of your own hand spun yarn! We will take a look at different types of wheels including electric and we will have some wheels for those without.

Weds 25th Jan – Rag Rug – We will look at traditional rugging techniques proddy and hooking, using both fabric and yarn to create a small wall hanging on hessian. You can then take these skills further in your own time to create rugs, wall hangings, cushion covers.

Weds 1st Feb – Rigid Heddle Weaving for Beginners – learn how to warp a rigid heddle loom, plain weave, creative weaving stitches and using colour on this creative course.

Weds 8th Feb – Peg Loom Weaving – learn how to use a peg loom to create wall hangings or rugs. We will be using both yarns and fibre.

Weds 15th March – Further Rigid Heddle Weaving – (CANCELLED) Take your Rigid Heddle weaving one step further using pick up stocks, wavy shuttles and other creative ideas (you will need to know the basics for this course)

Tues 28th March – Spinning Art Yarn (not suitable for beginners) – Take your spinning skills one step further on this Christmas themed Art Yarn Workshop. If you are bringing your own wheel you will need to have the appropriate art yarn head. Please call if you are unsure.

 

All workshops will be held at  The Threshing Barn.

Cancellation – Should you be unable to attend the course you can cancel and receive a full refund up to 14 days beforehand. If you cancel between then and up to 48hrs before you will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations made within 48hrs of the workshop will not be entitled to any refund. 

Venue – The Threshing Barn, Unit 10 Reeth Dales Centre, Reeth DL11 6SP

The venue is all on one level and we have toilet facilities, but please call to discuss if you have specific access needs before you book.

Parking – There is plenty of parking outside the Threshing Barn, on The Reeth Dales Centre.

Times – The workshop will run 10.00 – 4.30, you will be able to access the venue from 9.45. There will be plenty of opportunities for refreshments and we will take a break for Lunch. Please bring you r own lunch or there will be opportunity if you would rather to pop to the fabulous Two Dales Bakery Café just around the corner.

Covid – Currently there are no restrictions in England but please be sensible and if you have a temperature or any symptoms, please take a test before you arrive. If you would like to wear a mask you are welcome to. There are hand washing facilities on site and we can open windows to allow air flow should anyone require it.
