We are running a varied selection of courses this year to get your creative juices flowing! Don’t be worried about having no experience all courses (except Art Yarn spinning) are suitable for both complete beginners and those with experience. All course prices include materials, but feel free to bring any bits and pieces you may want to incorporate.
Full Day courses run 10.30 – 4.30, include refreshments throughout the day and a lovely lunch. They are £85 per person.
Family Workshops run 10.30 – 1.30 or 2.30 – 4.30. Children must be accompanied by an adult. (max 3 children to 1 adult) price is per child.
Please use click and collect at checkout (otherwise you will have to pay postage!) – you can pay via card by choosing the World Pay option – if you choose BACs please remember you will need to transfer the money from your bank account. If you would rather pay over the phone please just give me a ring!

Fri 3 June – Swaledale Inspired – Wet Felted layered landscapes – spend a dale in the heart of Swaledale producing a finished wall hanging of the dale. You will learn about about pre-felts, wools, preparation, techniques and how to use inspirational views to inspire your unique work of art.
Sun Aug 7 – Rag Rug summer garden picture or cushion panel – a totally immersive colourful and textural workshop that will leave you feeling happy and full of colour!! You will leave with a most amazing creation to use as either a cushion cover or a picture for your wall.
Tues Aug 11 – Family Workshop printing – spend a couple of hours letting your little creatives go crazy printing tea towels, napkins, bags, cards – They will learn how to use printing blocks and other mono printing techniques and no doubt create a mess whilst they do it! There must be an adult present to help and supervise their children.
Fri Aug 19 – Batik – The River Swale – Due to the nature of batik – this will be a small intimate workshop with just 8 places available – You will take inspiration from the river Swale which runs through Swaledale – the life force of the dale!! You will learn about the history of Batik, all about the tools and pick up some top tips and new techniques.
Fri Sept 9 – Spinning for beginners – never spun? spun a bit but not too well? got a wheel in the attic that hasn’t been for a spin in years? Spend a day with Janet and Sara as they take you through sheep breeds, carding, spinning and plying – you will leave with a small hank of your own hand spun yarn! We will take a look at different types of wheels including electric and we will have some wheels for those without.
Sat Sept 10–Inspired creative tapestry weaving – we will look at, tapestry frames, rigid heddle looms, small pop up looms and cardboard looms, we will show you how you can create a tapestry weaving across all these options. we will be using cardboard looms and the colours and textures of Indian to create a small wall hanging for you to take home. We will look at colour, texture, yarns, and different and creative weaving techniques.
Sat Oct 15. – Spinning Art Yarn – for those who can already spin – we will take your spinning into the creative arena. Learn to core spin, boucle, beehives, adding flowers and beads, you will leave with a selection of mini hanks of your own creative spinning. Some wheels are available for students to use – if you are bringing your own wheel it will need an art yarn/plying head – we maybe able to help with this.
All workshops will be held at Reeth Memorial Hall, just around the corner from The Threshing Barn.
